Junior School Digital Citizenship Session
From 12 April to 13 April, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo hosted two sessions on “Digital Citizenship” for Grade 4 and Grade 5 students and their parents/guardians.
These sessions were hosted by Junior School Principal Maike Silver and Primary Years Programme Coordinator Emma Wheatley, and they focused on how parents and guardians can make sure their children navigate the Internet in a safe and responsible manner.
“With technology as part of our everyday life, it is important that parents/guardians and students know of kid-friendly websites as well as understand the dangers of social media for our students,” said Junior School Principal Maike Silver.
Parents/guardians and students engaged in fun and insightful activities on digital citizenship. They also shared ideas and suggestions on how our young students can engage positively, critically and competently in the digital environment to build their tech-savviness.
“Having a shared understanding of what it means to be a digital citizen allows our parents and guardians to work closely with their children in ensuring that children navigate the digital world safely,” Maike said.
