Meet Jose Alejandro Zepeda Navarrete
The Aga Khan Academy Maputo is welcoming new staff members from around the world to its community for the 2021 – 2022 academic year. Profiles of the new staff will be shared, introducing who they are and how they want to bring change to the Academy.
Jose Alejandro Zepeda Navarrete was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and is the new Dean of Studies and interim Senior School Principal at the Aga Khan Academy Maputo. Alejandro has worked at various schools in Mexico for 21 years and at the Aga Khan Academy in Dhaka, Bangladesh for one year as the Middle Years Programme coordinator.
Keeping the Academy’s vision and mission in mind, Alejandro hopes to be a driver of change and advancement for both teachers and students within the Senior School context and the wider AKA Maputo context.
“The vision and mission of the Academy must be our guiding touchstone for all of the work done across the school,” Alejandro said. “Through the professional development of staff, academic options, extracurricular experiences for students and overall choices in activities at the Academy, I believe I will be able to contribute to fulfilling the Academy’s mission.”
Alejandro said he has been greatly enjoying his time at AKA Maputo so far.
“Ever since the first time I arrived at the Academy, I fell in love with the campus, the staff and the students,” Alejandro said. “The community is vibrant and engaged, and this falls against a background of well-thought and beautiful spaces.”
