Meet Theo Naidoo
The Aga Khan Academy Maputo welcomed 17 new staff members from around the world to its community for the 2023-2024 academic year. Throughout the year, we will introduce the new staff and what they hope to accomplish at the Academy. Originally from South Africa, Theo Naidoo is the Academy’s new art and design teacher and can be considered a citizen of the world, with almost 30 years of teaching experience. Theo Naidoo is the Aga Khan Academy Maputo’s new art and design teacher.
Hailing from Western Cape, South Africa, Theo has almost 30 years of teaching experience around the world. He has taught in Venezuela, Kuwait, Japan, the United Kingdom and, most recently, Lesotho.
For Theo, he would like to deliver lessons that contribute to lifelong learning and inspire students to discover their hidden abilities.
When asked about how he would uphold the vision and mission of the Aga Khan Academies through his position, Theo said, “education in the creative fields enables students to become lifelong problem solvers and find creative solutions to obstacles in an ever-changing world.
In a rapidly globalising world, my lessons encourage students to develop a deep understanding of their cultural backgrounds but also an appreciation of the contributions of other cultures to the development of all humanity.”
One of Theo’s favourite aspects of the Academy is the campus and facilities. “It is truly an environment that seeks to develop the mind as well as the body,” Theo said.
