Moving Up Ceremony for Grade 5s
On the last day of school, 11 June, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo's Junior School held a Moving Up Ceremony for its Grade 5 students as they transition from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to the Middle Years Programme (MYP).
During the ceremony, the Grade 5 students performed poetry, speeches and songs, which was accompanied by speeches made by Head of Academy Michael Spencer, Junior School Principal Maike Silver and a Grade 5 parent. The students were also presented with certificates for completing their PYP education, with five students receiving additional awards to celebrate their outstanding progress, leadership and kindness during this academic year.
"The Grade 5 students received big cheers from their fellow PYP students, families and teachers as they were officially presented to the MYP," said PYP Coordinator Emma Wheatley. "We send our warmest congratulations to all of our students and their families and wish them well next year as they begin the next chapter of their story."
