Meet the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka's newly elected Student Council and what they have been up to so far.
Teacher Professional Development
Promoting excellence in teaching, both on campus and more broadly, is a fundamental goal of the Aga Khan Academies. Each Academy has a Professional Development Centre (PDC), which strengthens the profession of teaching in the region by investing substantially in teachers’ professional development.
Developing strength in teaching
We identify and develop teachers of the highest quality who are committed both to the all-round development of young people and to their own professional growth as excellent teachers.
Our PDC supports excellence in teaching by promoting best practices in teaching and learning. We provide ongoing, collaborative training for Academy faculty as well as outreach programmes for teachers and head teachers from neighbouring government, private and not-for-profit schools.
Our faculty members also have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the globe and to teach abroad within the Aga Khan Academies network.
Strengthening curriculum and community
Through our professional development provision, we help create a professional community of competent, well-resourced teachers.
These teachers will continue to support and collaborate with one another on materials development, by sharing best practices, and in establishing diverse academic, cultural and social projects.

Residential Facilities
Our school culture is based on respect, integrity, honesty, fairness, empathy and good humour; and these values permeate the ethos of residential life.
The residential environment is warm and supportive, and this is reflected in the peaceful and inviting architecture of the residences. Boys and girls live in separate student residences, and all students are closely supervised by faculty and staff.
The adjustment to living away from home for the first time can be difficult for students. Our dorm parents are a carefully chosen group of teachers who live in faculty apartments in the residences. They ensure a safe, nurturing and fun-filled environment for students.
Dorm parents are trained in critical skills such as health and safety, community life and interpersonal relations. They possess a high level of energy to handle multiple tasks while offering guidance and support to the students.
We provide accommodation for members of the Academy community from both within the country and overseas, as well as those visiting or on exchange from another Aga Khan Academy. Additional teachers' quarters on campus house both resident and visiting faculty along with their families.
IB Policies
These policies are mandated by the International Baccalaureate and guide the work we do at the Academy to implement the IB programme standards and practices.
Academic Integrity is a principle in education and a choice to act in a responsible way so others can trust us. It means conducting all aspects of academic life in a responsible and ethical manner. The policy details how we support this. Download the Academic Integrity Policy here.
The Admissions Policy outlines our requirements, expecttations, assessment and processes for students who wish to join the Academy. Download the Admissions Policy here.
