Aiza Fazal, a Junior School student at the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa wrote new lyrics to the melody of ‘We are the World’, originally composed by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, in an uplifting rendition to share a message of hope given the current global situation.

Music for a cause

Garv Joshi, grade 8, at the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad produced his own trap music and started making his own beats. He then sold the beats and used the money he earned to buy items needed to make COVID-19 kits to distribute.

Following in the footsteps of previous cohorts, the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa’s Class of 2020 received record-breaking results in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) this year. In addition to the Academy once again scoring highly, the percentage of top scorers was also above the global average – with nine students scoring an outstanding 40 points and above.
