The Aga Khan Academies Student Exchange Programme completed its fifth cycle from 13 January to 29 March, with over 45 students from the Academies in Mombasa, Kenya, Hyderabad, India and Maputo, Mozambique.
On 7 July, His Excellency José Ramos-Horta, President of the Democratic Republic of East Timor visited the Aga Khan Academy Maputo as part of his state visit.
On 18 May, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo celebrated its graduating class of 18 exceptional students from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
On 10 February 2024, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo held its first-ever TEDxYouth event under the theme of “Kintsugi”, a Japanese art form of using gold to put broken pottery pieces back together.
Recently, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo celebrated the end of term with a special celebration, including inclusive and diverse activities, such as a festive presentation, a Senior School assembly and a donation drive from the Diploma Programme 1 students.
On 15 November, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo welcomed His Excellency Mr Peter H. Vrooman, Ambassador of the United States to Mozambique and his delegation. The guests were accompanied by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Mozambique Representative Adjunct Rui Carimo and welcomed by the Head of Academy Roy White.
From pioneering the addition of the International Baccalaureate (IB) e-assessment in Kiswahili when she was the Middle Years Programme (PYP) Coordinator at the Aga Khan Academy (AKA) Mombasa, Esther has now been a part of the introduction of Portuguese into the Middle Years Programme (MYP) at the AKA Maputo. As the current MYP Coordinator, Esther started working on this last year to ensure its success.
