The Aga Khan Academies Student Exchange Programme completed its fifth cycle from 13 January to 29 March, with over 45 students from the Academies in Mombasa, Kenya, Hyderabad, India and Maputo, Mozambique.
A two-day excursion to the Ajanta and Ellora Caves, specifically designed for DP1 and DP2 art students, presented a unique chance to learn about art from the marvellous sculptures and murals that adorn the walls of the caves.
The Grade 7 students participated in a week long mask-making exercise facilitated by artist, Alfredo Semo. Through these art sessions, students discussed and learned about the traditions of the Nyau and Mapiko ethnic groups.
Grade 4A students displayed the cultural diversity in their classroom at a morning assembly, learning about cultures, languages and traditions from each other.
The Academy’s annual celebration of culture and pluralism took place at the amphitheatre on the evening of Saturday 3rd November, with close to 20 outstanding dance, music, poetry and dramatic performances by students and staff.
Swahili Day is a day that has been set aside by the school, every year to celebrate the Kiswahili language and culture of the Swahili people. This year marks eleven years since the start of these celebrations.
Students in grades 1–5 visited Shilparamam – the arts, crafts and cultural village in Hyderabad – on Super Saturday, and the teachers became students on Teacher's Day.
