Internship Fair

During the summer break, students at AKA Mombasa had the opportunity to intern at various organisations as part of the Internship Programme, which provides students in DP1 meaningful and sustainable career-oriented opportunities in professional fields of their choice. The Internship Fair, set up in a speed-dating style, allowed students to engage in discussion and reflection on the internship journey.

Literacy Month in Junior School

During the month of September, the entire Junior School community was engaged in a range of activities to celebrate Literacy Month. All activities were aimed at encouraging students to spend more time reading and writing as a way of exploring the world, expressing their thoughts and most importantly having fun. Activities included dual-language inter-house spelling bees and read-aloud sessions.

International Beach Clean-Up Day by Ocean Eyes

In honour of International Coastal Cleanup Day, 20 students from the Academy, some of who are a part of Ocean Eyes – a student-led service project focusing on marine conservation projects in Mombasa – participated in a beach cleanup at Kuruwitu beach. Along with cleaning up the beach, Ocean Eyes hoped to also raise awareness on the importance of marine conservation and collaborating with local partners.

Floodlights launched with an explosion of colour

On the evening of September 9 the residential community held Colour Run to celebrate the launch of the new floodlights in the field. The floodlights increase the area available for sports and residential activities such as bucketball and capture the flag to take in the evening.
