Great African Cycling Safari flags off from the Academy

On 1 August the Great African Cycling Safari (GACS) kicked off their East African tour from the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa. Over the course of 55 days, the cyclists will travel through Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, and Uganda and will re-enter Kenya to complete the safari in Nairobi.

Team building to kick off the new academic year

To kick off the beginning of a new academic year, the faculty and staff at the Academy had a day of team building. The activities brought together the entire school including the Junior School and Senior School teachers, the support staff and the entire admin team.

The Class of 2024 receives the highest MYP exam results to date!

The Grade 10 students at the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa scored top marks in their International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) examinations – the Academy’s best IB MYP results to date. The class average per subject stands at 5.12 out of a possible 7, the highest ever scored, with nine students scoring an impressive average of 6.0 and higher.

The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa welcomed new members of staff from around the world. Over the next few weeks, profiles of the new staff will be shown, introducing who they are and how they hope to uphold the mission and vision of the Academy.

Beginning of the 2022-2023 school year

Residential students will be coming back to campus as scheduled in anticipation of school resuming as planned on 10 August 2022.

Elephant Queen special screening at the Academy

A special outdoor screening of the Elephant Queen was held a the Academy last week. Elephant Queen is an inspirational Kenyan film celebrating our wildlife. The internationally acclaimed documentary aims to raise awareness of human-wildlife conflict and increase conservation efforts.

Donating blood to save lives

To celebrate World Donor Day on the 14 of June, the Academy Health and Wellness centre in conjunction with the Aga Khan Hospital set up a blood drive. Students and staff took the opportunity to learn more and donate blood.

Grade 5 Primary Years Programme exhibition

The PYP exhibition is the process in which the 5th graders consolidate their primary years of learning through a culminating, in-depth, and collaborative inquiry. Students tackled issues ranging from animal cruelty to decreasing poverty rates in Kenya to implementing creative learning in classrooms to tackling marine pollution.
